The Voltage

High-energy garage rock from Detroit. Loud, fast, and unapologetic.

About

The Voltage is a four-piece garage rock band from Detroit, MI, known for explosive live shows and a raw, unpolished sound that channels the spirit of the city's rock legacy.

The Voltage formed in a basement in Hamtramck, MI in 2023, fueled by cheap beer, blown-out amplifiers, and a shared obsession with The White Stripes, MC5, and Ty Segall. The band — Marcus Thorne (vocals/guitar), Kai Diaz (lead guitar), Jenna Park (bass), and Danny O'Sullivan (drums) — released their debut album "Short Circuit" in January 2026 to critical acclaim, with NME calling it "the most exhilarating rock record to come out of Detroit in a decade." Their live reputation precedes them. The Voltage's sets are known for being dangerously loud, physically intense, and completely unpredictable — Marcus has been known to play entire songs standing on the bass drum, and the band's record for shortest set is 11 minutes (they played 14 songs). The Voltage has toured with IDLES, Fontaines D.C., and headlined a sold-out run of UK clubs in 2025. They are currently booking festivals for summer 2026.
